Poem: THE VACANT BUILDING WHERE SHOPPER'S ONCE OCCUPIED

The vacant building where Shopper's once occupied

I always pass by it when I would go out 

It now stands so empty and forlorn,

lifeless and bored

and I wonder when the new store

will move in.

Good people worked there

from pharmacists to cashiers

janitors to stockers

They treated shoppers with

warmth and good service

serenity and sternness

they are now all gone.

The vacant building where Shopper's once occupied

will soon be rented out again

by another grocery store called Leidl

and I hope it will be the same or better

more variety, more nice people

more happiness, less trouble

The vacant building where Shopper's once occupied

is a great landmark in my uneventful life.

NOTES OF A HOPEFUL -- 2/12/2020

1. I went to see my therapist today by way of a black taxicab.

2. My therapist mostly makes me feel happy and positive after our monthly meetings.

3. I caught the Metrobus from the local bus station to come home after our meeting today.

4. I wore a black and white striped scarf today with a wool trench coat and gray, denim jeans.

5. The day was cloudy and gloomy with absolutely no sun in the sky.

6. I did not take the train today because I felt like I needed a change in routine.

7. I came home and Mom was sitting in the kitchen eating her lunch meal.

8. There are many opportunities in the literary world that I am just missing out on.

9. I am currently rereading The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.

10. I am happy for Taika Waititi's Oscar award and want to follow in his footsteps.

11. My favorite channel to watch on TV is Antenna TV.

12. My favorite show to watch on Antenna TV is The Facts of Life with Ms. Garrett and her girls.

13. My favorite music streaming service is Spotify because it has all the music that I enjoy.

14. I had to take a break from my bookstagramming on Instagram for peace of mind.

15. Lately I am uninspired because my mind is blank when I attempt to write poems.

16. I no longer post religious quotes and passages on my Facebook page.

17. I am keeping my religious views, life, and aspirations to myself for privacy reasons.

18. I am thankful to God for my life and my blessings.

19. I applied to a remote opportunity earlier today and am nervous about it.

20. I told my therapist earlier today in our meeting that I am just not inspired to write anything at all.
