Poem: the shape of the moon

Writer's Digest Poetry Prompt:
Write a poem about a shape

This poem was later shared to
Poets and Storytellers'
Writer's Pantry #22: Onward, June

the shape of the moon at night,
stands out bright as a beam
in the surrounding dark
a glowing, enthralling light
the shape of the moon
is hope to lonely hearts
that are seeking bliss
in the still, still darkness
the shape of the moon
either crescent or round
shines like a diamond
above the sleeping town.

  3. Yes the Moon's existence tells us a lot about the world and us too. I think we all love it when it shines down on us at night.

  5. I love the images and thoughts this poem brings to mind, mostly that that regardless of shape the moon is always bright, bright, bright (even on her dark days).

  7. Love this! There's something about that 'same old … same old' moon that is so emotive to the human spirit. Perhaps, it is the specter of its constancy while the earth beneath it pitches from one awful crisis to another. ~ sigh ~

  8. Sooo true. The Moon is so very dependable, only a cloud can diffuse its beam.
